The Dreilander Pokal has been contested in Europe as part of the World Cup in F2A Speed and F2D Combat for 5 years now. This year was something special. The 3 contests were to be over two weekends with one event held in the middle of the week. This made for 10 days of intense competition and travel.
2011 FAI European Championships
July 29, 2011. Ken Morrissey (GBR) is the new European Champion with the new World Record of 307.4 kph! Congratulations to Ken and the British Team, which took gold in the team competition. Hungary is second and Ukraine third. Denis Shliakhov of Ukraine won the Junior title.

F2A Trainer Model: Tuning the Engine
Our program with the simple F2A trainer model has come to an end, and it's time to summarize our experience. In this article, I will describe the engine modifications, tuning and some operational aspects.
2011 USA F2A Team Trials
The US F2A Team for the 2012 World Championships was selected at the contest on July 9 and 10, 2011 at the AMA site in Muncie, Indiana. Two rounds were flown each day, and the competitor placings were determined by the average of two fastest speeds. The Team will be: Carl Dodge, Alex Valishev, Bill Hughes, Ivan Valishev (Junior). Alberto Caballero qualified as the Alternate.
2011 USA Nationals
The 2011 USA Control Line Championships were held the week of July 4 at the AMA site in Muncie, Indiana. This year F2A was flown on Tuesday, July 5 concurrently with 21 Sport Speed and the new 'C' Speed events. There were 9 entries, including one junior (under 15 years old) and two Seniors (15 to 18 years). The Event Director was Mr. Greg Settle with Dave Mark, Butch Andrews, Virginia Jones and Dick Shannon helping him.

News from Profi: New Crank Case for 2011
Profi updates their F2A engine crank case design for 2011. The new engine was flight-tested yesterday and demonstrated speed above 292 in the first run. Profi's Alex Osovik says "in the new design we implemented some innovative features, which will improve the case rigidity and durability".
